Today, Tuesday 12th May, is internationally known as ‘Nurses Day’, and to celebrate this occasion, we wanted to show our thanks to the nurses who support our residents at Foxholes Care Home in Hitchin.
With a little help from our local community, we’ve put together some beautiful, luxury hampers to give to the 17 community nurses in Hitchin to thank them for their ‘heroic’ services during these challenging times.
Our kind and caring staff, along with our residents and their families have all very generously donated items to the hampers, which we handed over to the two district nurses during their routine visit this morning to share amongst the Hitchin District Nurse team.
We’ve put together an individual ‘pamper hamper’ for each of the 17 nurses, and have gifted a large luxury hamper for the whole team to share, filled with wine, prosecco, cakes, chocolates, face masks, hand creams, specialty teas, and even honey from a local beekeeper. Our kitchen team has also been busy, having baked a special cake for the nurses to mark International Nurses Day.
The whole team at Gregans House has been truly incredible throughout this challenging few months. We cannot thank the nurses and the support staff in the admin offices at the Bedford Road site enough. And a huge thank you goes to Usha Gandecha, lead pharmacist at Cross Chemist, who donated lots of wonderful goodies to the hampers.
We have faced enormous pressure in keeping the residents safe from the virus, and our amazing team of district nurses have been instrumental in helping us to achieve that.
Our nurses should be commended for their incredible efforts every day, but we wanted to use International Nurses Day to spoil them a little bit and show them that everyone at Foxholes appreciates their courage and kindness during these unprecedented times. We hope they enjoy this little gesture from us, and we can’t thank them and all the frontline nurses across the UK enough for their ongoing efforts in providing such an essential service.
A thank you card signed by staff, residents, residents’ families, and the local Cross Chemist was also handed over to the nurses during this morning’s visit to Foxholes.
